Shadows In The Grass

Size: 32”x38” (with frame)

I experimented with a series of painting in this style early in my painting. I swapped out the detail for wider, more deliberate strokes. Instead of blending the sky into soft gradients, I treated each cloud like a sharp landform of its own. The breakthrough for me came with the shadows across the grass. I laid down heavy shapes that stretch away from the barn. The red barn then become the grounding archer.
